Scottish Enterprise searches for ecommerce director

Scottish Enterprise is to recruit its first ecommerce director, with responsibility for bringing all its services online in the next three years.
The UK's biggest development agency, which manages a £450m annual budget, plans to invest £6.4m in the first wave of its "Connecting Scotland" programme.
The initiative, supported by Microsoft, will set up a network of digital age businesses across Scotland. Scottish Enterprise will set up an ecommerce research team, workshops and advisors for SMEs, and a 12-strong network of Softnet centres for start-up software companies.
Robert Crawford, the new chief executive and an ex-Ernst and Young consultant, said he wanted Scotland to be the main ecommerce hub for Europe.
The closing date for applications to the post of ecommerce director is Friday 17 March. Interested parties may contact Scottish Enterprise's Human Resources director, John Phillips, at john.phillips@scotent.co.uk.
Scottish Enterprise said they were expecting a global response, and one employee commented: "We would be extremely surprised if the recruit is not a business person."
The strategic framework on Connecting Scotland is available from http://www.ecommerce-scotland.org
