Experts from 12 top IT firms to support early Win 2000 users

Microsoft has announced the team of technology partners it will use to support early users of Windows 2000. The group of IT specialists is made up of 12 companies including Cap Gemini, Compaq, Hewlett Packard, ICL and Unysis.
Microsoft says that the companies will be given experience of the new operating system before its launch in order to enable them to help early adopters. Members of the Partner Rapid Deployment Programme will work on deployments and training for Microsoft customers.
A spokeswoman for Microsoft said that the software giant intends to use the programme to build up a detailed knowledge base for the installation and integration of Windows 2000 over a variety of different environments.
The long-awaited operating system is currently slated for release by the end of the year.
